About The Position

This position is responsible for the on-site installation and repair of semiconductor test equipment at customer locations worldwide. The role involves completing retrofits, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex equipment to ensure proper working order. The Field Service Engineer will also respond to customer technical service requests, provide technical assistance to the sales department, develop testing procedures, monitor product reliability, and deliver technical training to customers and internal personnel. The position is based in Austin, TX, with potential travel up to 50% domestically and internationally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and related semiconductor test equipment experience.
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a field or technical customer service engineer/technician or systems engineer/technician.
  • Experience with the installation, repair, upgrading, servicing, troubleshooting, problem analysis, and resolution of semiconductor test equipment.
  • Progressive and demonstrated experience successfully interfacing and servicing customers on-site as a technical company representative.
  • Intermediate knowledge of semiconductor equipment, including electro-mechanical systems, pneumatic systems, software and control systems, and related materials.
  • Ability to read schematics, assembly drawings, and detailed blueprints.
  • Ability to use tools and mechanical fixtures.
  • Ability to use a diagnostic terminal at an intermediate to advanced level.
  • Ability to work with assigned projects that are diverse, requiring judgment in analyzing data and selecting the best correctional method.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively interface with high-profile customers.
  • Computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical knowledge and experience in an engineering or other technical/customer/product support role with Delta Design semiconductor test equipment.
  • Experience with VTS and/or Pyramid handlers.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site installation and repair of semiconductor test equipment at customer locations worldwide.
  • Complete retrofits at customer sites.
  • Perform testing and troubleshooting of complex equipment, ensuring proper working order and documenting findings.
  • Isolate equipment start-up malfunctions and take corrective action.
  • Respond to customer requests for technical service and make recommendations for product improvement.
  • Provide technical assistance to the internal Sales Department.
  • Develop and certify standard testing procedures.
  • Monitor product reliability, collect and analyze data, and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Coordinate and participate in conference calls to facilitate escalated issues.
  • Provide technical training and support to customers, including operator training.
  • Serve as an on-site expert on equipment-related questions or issues.
  • Train customer personnel and OEM dealers in equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Make technical presentations on field service processes and equipment operations.
