About The Position

JR Automation, a Hitachi Group Company, is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join their team. This role involves providing onsite customer support for various automation solutions, including material handling systems, assembly lines, and robotic cells. The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for repairing, retrofitting, designing, building, programming, and deploying custom automated equipment. A strong controls background and experience with Semiconductors are preferred. The position requires travel up to 70% of the time, potentially including domestic and international travel, with additional travel pay provided for some assignments. Candidates must be able to complete Lock Out Tag Out training, and JR Automation requires successful completion of a drug screen, physical examination, and background check.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; College degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience with automated equipment build, troubleshooting & maintenance of automated/robotic cells.
  • Formal technical training in automated equipment maintenance and troubleshooting on robotic cells and PLC/HMI reprogramming.
  • Ability to discuss, diagnose & repair robot operational and process problems as reported by the customer.
  • Intermediate or expert proficiency in: Schematic interpretation.
  • Robotics, Electrical, Troubleshooting, PLC and HMI programming.
  • Proven mechanical aptitude with a focus on safety and quality.

Nice To Haves

  • Heavy controls background and experience with Semiconductors is preferred.
  • Master certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer site on a moment’s notice to perform troubleshooting and repair functions.
  • Complete a Field Service Report for each customer service call.
  • Troubleshoot, repair and maintain robot controllers, electrical control devices, mechanical units, transfer devices and peripheral equipment.
  • Maintain a service tool kit and documentation to facilitate rapid customer response.
  • Provide specific feedback to customer on issues and concerns that were found to be faulty pertaining to onsite automated equipment.
  • Robot and system programming and path editing of robot and related peripheral equipment to restore, maintain or optimize system performance.
  • Conduct the electrical/hydraulic pneumatic debug, peripheral device programming, machine PLC programming, coordinate the machine debug, power-up, and machine validation.
  • Repair industrial electronic equipment including I/O networks, data highways, variable speed drives, process control equipment, for a wide variety of automated control systems ranging from simple on-off control to robotics.
