We are seeking a Field Service Supervisor to join our Field Service team. You will be responsible for the coordination/planning and execution/supervision of activities related to the repair, maintenance, and installation of mining process equipment. Your role plays a crucial part in maintenance work as well as knowledge in mining equipment. In this position, you will report to the Field Service Manager. This position is mainly located in Burlington (CA), Montreal (CA), Sudbury (CA) but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. However, it involves up to 80% of travel to customer sites. You will join a team of Field service experts committed to the repair, maintenance, and installation of Metso’s mining process equipment. Our team culture is all about solving and getting things done. The members in our team are in various locations and coordinate with Interfaces with Operations Team, Manager of Administration/Accounting/Field Service Support team.

Requirements

  • Millwright certification or equivalent experience with a minimum of 5 years in field service.
  • Valid Canadian passport and driver’s license.
  • Ability to coordinate, plan, and organize field service assignments.
  • Motivated and oriented towards customer satisfaction.
  • High communication skills with mandatory fluency in English (oral and written) and preferred fluency in French (oral and written).
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings in both the English and Metric systems.
  • Familiarity with Metso’s equipment.
  • Adequate computer skills, capable of working with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Lotus Notes email.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites, including extended periods, up to 70% of the time.
  • Capable of handling tasks in a time-sensitive setting, with the potential for 16-hour workdays.
  • Willingness to respond to field service emergency calls on a 24/7 basis.
  • Apply and respect company policies, objectives, goals, safety, and ISO 9001 quality standards.

  • Preferred fluency in French (oral and written).

Responsibilities

  • Before heading to a field assignment, dive deep into the detailed scope of work, drawings, company procedures, and specific instructions to ensure you’re fully prepared.
  • Work closely with Metso’s technical support staff to leverage their expertise.
  • Offer advisory services during installation, checkout, start-up, and commissioning phases.
  • Liaise with customers and their contractors to ensure smooth field operations.
  • Assist customers in maintaining the field schedule and ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Guide mill or contractor crews in safely performing maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
  • Address mechanical issues and assist with corrective actions and repairs.
  • Recommend operating and maintenance procedures to ensure equipment functions properly.
  • Train customer staff on proper maintenance and repair methods.
  • Write detailed field reports outlining problems encountered, actions taken, and future recommendations.
  • Suggest improvements to field methods and efficiency when appropriate.
  • Submit expense statements in line with Metso’s travel policies and procedures.
  • Take on other service-related tasks as requested by the Field Service Manager.
  • Be prepared for both domestic and international travel as needed.
  • Perform other miscellaneous tasks and special projects as required.
