About The Position

An Agriculture Field Scout I is responsible for placing pest traps and monitoring and recording pest activity across various crops. The Field Scout works closely with the field sales team and the operations support team. The role involves fieldwork, including monitoring traps, scouting crops, collecting samples as directed, and using GPS and digital tools to record and map field data.

Requirements

Strong interest in agriculture, plant science, or horticulture.
Intermediate proficiency with standard software, including the Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to safely operate a vehicle in accordance with state laws and company policies and guidelines.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and digital tools for accurate data collection, reporting, and record maintenance.
Ability to use GPS technology, mobile applications, and digital mapping tools to support field monitoring activities.
Comfortable learning and adopting new technologies, including AI-powered tools such as Microsoft Copilot.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to repetitively bend, kneel, and walk long distances while working outside in a non-climate-controlled environment and inclement weather.
Excellent math skills and ability to maintain accurate counts.
Dependable and reliable.
Willingness to work overtime and occasionally on Saturdays.

Responsibilities

Prepare and install traps for placement in the field.
Inspect and monitor traps on a weekly basis.
Maintain data counts of the number of pests trapped.
Use GPS technology to map fields.
Comply with company safety standards.
Take soil samples as needed or directed by sales.
Scout crops for economic pests and report findings to the appropriate Sales Representative.
Use digital tools and applications to collect, report, and maintain accurate records.
