About The Position

The Field Sales Manager is responsible for driving strategy and delivering results within a sales branch. This role involves making recommendations on strategy and customer plans to senior management, directing value-added sales opportunities through various strategies, and identifying and achieving sales branch goals. The manager will also be responsible for recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and managing the performance of sales staff, ensuring they are trained and have the necessary resources. Additionally, the role focuses on developing strong customer, supplier, and vendor relationships by providing superior service and operational excellence, and effectively communicating with all levels. The Field Sales Manager acts as a leader within the branch, instilling vision, creating enthusiasm, and facilitating process improvements. This position is part of a sales compensation plan with a 60/40 split between base pay and commission.

Requirements

  • Previous experience managing a team is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with partners in the IT Sales Channel.
  • Experience selling technology solutions is required.
  • Manages professional employees and/or supervisors or supervises large, complex technical or business support or production operations team(s).
  • Is accountable for the performance and results of a team within own discipline or function.
  • Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.
  • Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance from senior manager.
  • Provides technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers.
  • Exercises limited management authority; sets employee performance objectives, conducts performance reviews and recommends pay actions.
  • Defines team operating standards and ensures essential procedures are followed based on knowledge of own discipline.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a 4 year degree; or 6 years and an advanced degree; or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with software and Citrix is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Drive strategy and deliver results by making recommendations on strategy and customer plans.
  • Direct value-added sales opportunities by implementing supply chain, engineering, supplier, or service excellence strategies.
  • Identify and achieve sales branch goals.
  • Recruit, hire, and mentor sales staff.
  • Manage employee performance, ensure team training, and provide necessary resources.
  • Coach and provide feedback to employees, and develop high-potential sales representatives for future management roles.
  • Make difficult decisions when necessary and prepare development plans for employees.
  • Enhance manager relationships with key contacts by providing superior service and operation excellence.
  • Implement effective techniques for solving problems and communicate effectively with all levels (supplier, customer, vendor).
  • Attend reviews and meetings, and increase management presence at customer accounts to achieve access to decision makers.
  • Act as a leader in the branch, instilling vision and creating enthusiasm to achieve goals.
  • Use data and analysis to make recommendations to the team and management.
  • Be responsible for budgeting and planning.
  • Facilitate implementation of process improvement based on data.
