About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Field Safety Technician to support a high-volume underground utilities and pipeline contractor overseeing 10 to 15 active projects across the Los Angeles area. This is a field-heavy safety role for someone who is comfortable moving between multiple job sites, working directly with crews, identifying hazards in real time, and keeping excavation, trenching, confined space, and traffic control operations compliant with OSHA, CalOSHA, and company safety standards. The right candidate will have strong boots-on-the-ground safety experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage safety oversight across several active job sites without needing constant direction.

Requirements

  • OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 certification required
  • OSHA 30 certification required
  • Strong excavation and trenching safety experience
  • Confined space safety experience
  • Familiarity with CalOSHA regulations
  • Knowledge of traffic control safety practices
  • Experience supporting underground utilities, pipeline, civil, or infrastructure projects
  • Ability to manage safety across multiple job sites simultaneously
  • Strong documentation and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
  • Strong construction safety background with direct experience in underground utilities, pipeline, excavation, trenching, confined space, and traffic control environments
  • Confident working independently in the field, building credibility with crews, addressing hazards in real time, and communicating clearly with both field personnel and management.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting daily safety inspections across active project sites
  • Traveling between 1 to 4 job sites per day depending on proximity and project activity
  • Monitoring excavation, trenching, confined space, and traffic control operations
  • Ensuring compliance with OSHA, CalOSHA, and contractor safety requirements
  • Identifying hazards and working with field teams to correct issues quickly
  • Coaching crews and supervisors on safe work practices
  • Documenting safety observations, corrective actions, incidents, and near misses
  • Supporting field leadership with proactive risk identification and mitigation
  • Reviewing and enforcing traffic control plans and site-specific safety procedures
