About The Position

Nationwide is hiring a Field Property Claims Adjuster III to support its Field Property Claims Team across the Mid-Atlantic region. The role provides flexible deployment support to help maintain operational continuity, service quality, and team performance. Assignments may vary in location and duration, and travel may reach 80% depending on business needs. The ideal candidate is located in Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, or Virginia. CAT duty is required. The adjuster handles serious-exposure property claims, including complex and catastrophic losses, by investigating claims, evaluating liability and coverage, negotiating and expediting settlements, and controlling loss and litigation costs. The role involves managing claims with limited direction, making decisions within delegated authority, maintaining adequate reserves, and delivering high-quality service to customers. The position also provides leadership and mentoring to less experienced associates and may act for the Claims Manager. Work takes place in a normal office or field claims environment and includes property inspections, often outdoors and in varied weather. The position requires travel with possible overnight stays, irregular and extended hours as needed, and availability for catastrophe work. The adjuster must be able to safely access and inspect rooftops using a ladder, including first- and second-story roofs with pitches up to 8/12. This is an exempt role and is not eligible for overtime. The position reports to the Claims Manager.
