About The Position

National General is a part of The Allstate Corporation, offering a wide range of insurance products through independent agents and directly to consumers. This role is responsible for investigating and confirming the facts of loss for advanced Homeowner's Claims, determining coverage, damages, and adjusting/negotiating claims within the limit of authority. The position involves creating or auditing comprehensive estimates of damages for first-party homeowner claims, leading to proper disposition. This role will support Northeast property and homeowner claims, including weather-related losses such as frozen pipes, water damage, hail, and wind. The position is part of the Premier Division, servicing high-value homes and managing claim losses up to $250,000. The territory includes Rockland and Westchester, NY counties. The ideal candidate will be an experienced adjuster with prior carrier experience and the ability to handle claims from start to finish, assessing complex damages and working closely with public adjusters, often negotiating claim settlements. Strong communication, negotiation, and diary management skills are essential.

  • Evaluates settlement alternatives by reviewing regulatory compliance and fair claims practices; makes decisions on best option.
  • Negotiates settlements, makes settlement payments and documents all activities in the most complex of files across multiple lines.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities
