About The Position

An Engine Testing-Field Project Technician can manage engine testing field test programs with minimal supervision. This role mobilizes various types of testing equipment to collect sampling emissions data from industrial combustion engines. The primary type of equipment operated is a Fourier-transform infrared spectrometers (FTIR). Additionally, this role serves as the company’s in-field representative to interface with clients and regulatory personnel.

Requirements

  • Proven competencies with sampling methodologies through standardized written standard operating procedures.
  • Good verbal communication skills (Internally and with Clients and Regulators).
  • Ability to work well in groups.
  • Must be trained to have a working knowledge of the applicable test methods utilized for industrial combustion engine testing.
  • Ability to manage engine testing field test programs with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the Engine Testing Manager and perform assigned duties.
  • Conduct on-site field testing (generally as a solo analyst) with proven competencies in sampling methodologies through standardized written standard operating procedures.
  • Follow current standards, codes, and procedures regarding safe and effective use of equipment, maintenance programs, and other policies.
  • Ensure the company is represented in a professional manner while at customer sites and in the office.
  • Train new hire Engine Testers on field procedures, test methods, calibrations, etc., following Operations Excellence’s guidance.
  • Successfully adhere to the Health and Safety Program Manual.
  • Follow all DOT requirements as trained.
  • Demonstrate ability to work safely in the field.
  • Be responsible and held accountable for ensuring that all team members comply with safety procedures in the field.
  • Be responsible and held accountable for ensuring drivers for the project comply with all DOT requirements including proper ELD use.
  • Prepare the test team for the scope of work prior to mobilization.
  • Prepare and maintain all equipment prior to mobilization.
  • Contact the applicable Engine Testing Manager for a pre-job briefing.
  • Contact client prior to mobilization to confirm testing event and schedule, and inform client of expected arrival time at plant.
  • Serve as the company’s in-field representative to interface with clients and regulatory personnel.
  • Ensure quality data collection.
  • Review and upload data to the secure AST server each test day.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the applicable test methods utilized for industrial combustion engine testing.
  • Complete the Daily Activities Summary (DAS) daily.
  • Ensure that field team time is entered into UKG daily.
  • Update ATLAS with project information, including data submittal dates.
  • Ensure a cyclonic flow traverse is performed on ALL projects requiring velocity or flow rate measurements prior to testing.
