About The Position

The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) is seeking a detail-oriented, intermittent, part-time Field/Phone Enumerator. This role supports the organization by collecting agricultural data on behalf of the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). The position involves interviewing farmers, ranchers, and agricultural businesses in person or by phone, and occasionally performing crop counts in designated fields. The enumerator will maintain and deliver detailed records of interviews, crop counts, mileage, expenditures, and hours worked. The role requires working from a residence with an operable telephone, maintaining a personal vehicle for travel, and embracing the energetic and flexible nature of the job.

Requirements

• Experience multitasking in an energetic, deadline-oriented work environment.
• Ability to positively represent NASDA and the benefits of enumerators in all survey actions.
• Ability to make crop counts in designated fields.
• Ability to maintain a reliable personal vehicle.
• Ability to conduct interviews in person or by telephone with farm operators and other individuals.
• Knowledge about computers or iPads.
• Must reside within the advertised state (Columbia, MO).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to demonstrate good time management in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated.
• Ability to work as part of a team.

• Ability to maintain a positive and friendly attitude.

Responsibilities

• Interview farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural businesses either in person or on the phone.
• Travel to designated fields to perform crop counts.
• Maintain and deliver detailed and legible records of interviews, crop counts, mileage, expenditures, and hours worked.
• Conduct enumerator work from a residence with an operable telephone free from distractions.
• Maintain a personal vehicle to be ready to travel for field enumerator duties.
