Field Operations Manager - Mechanical Engineering

Dynamic SLRHouston, TX
$80,000 - $100,000Onsite

About The Position

Dynamic EcoHome is hiring an ambitious Mechanical Engineer to help build a disciplined, efficient, and scalable field operation in Houston. This is not a traditional desk-based engineering position. You will spend a significant portion of your time at job sites, with crews, and inside the daily operation. You will see problems firsthand, make decisions quickly, and turn engineering analysis into measurable improvements. You will lead installers, electricians, technicians, and other field personnel while improving the systems connecting labor, materials, equipment, schedules, job sites, and customer commitments. This opportunity is designed for an early-career engineer who wants significant ownership, leadership responsibility, and the opportunity to grow faster than a traditional engineering path typically allows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
  • Zero to five years of professional experience - New Grads are encouraged to apply!
  • Strong preference for candidates with one to three years of experience in construction, installation, manufacturing, field services, equipment, or project operations
  • Demonstrated leadership through competitive athletics, coaching, military service, student organizations, internships, entrepreneurship, or team-based competitions
  • A background in competitive athletics is preferred, especially when it demonstrates discipline, resilience, leadership, and a team-first mindset.
  • Evidence of taking ownership and delivering results beyond assigned responsibilities
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in seeing how systems perform under real field conditions
  • Strong analytical ability combined with a willingness to make decisions and act
  • Ability to earn credibility with experienced installers, electricians, and technicians
  • Willingness to work at job sites and adapt to changing field conditions
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the Houston market

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with construction methods, structural connections, mounting systems, HVAC, solar, electrical equipment, or mechanical integration
  • Experience with technical inspections, quality control, failure analysis, or corrective action
  • Knowledge of job-site safety, building standards, and construction documentation
  • OSHA 30, PMP, CM-Lean, Lean Six Sigma, or comparable certification
  • Exposure to field service, manufacturing, installation, maintenance, or construction environments
  • Leadership experience within a competitive team environment

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily installation and construction activities throughout the Houston market
  • Spend the majority of your time close to the operation, including regular job-site visits and field inspections
  • Set clear expectations and hold field teams accountable for safety, quality, productivity, and schedule performance
  • Analyze workflows to identify bottlenecks, capacity constraints, delays, rework, and wasted labor
  • Improve crew assignments, route planning, material flow, scheduling, and job-site sequencing
  • Build practical dashboards that track labor utilization, cycle time, throughput, quality, and cost
  • Redesign inefficient processes and test improvements directly in the field
  • Establish standardized procedures that improve consistency without slowing execution
  • Investigate recurring operational problems and lead root-cause analysis
  • Anticipate problems and take action before they affect customers or project timelines
  • Coach installers, electricians, technicians, and emerging field leaders
  • Coordinate with project management, engineering, warehouse, customer service, and senior leadership
  • Present Houston’s performance, constraints, priorities, and improvement plans to company leadership
  • Make confident decisions in changing conditions with limited oversight
