About The Position

ASM Research is seeking a Journeyman Field Office Technician to provide on-site IT hardware and software support at its Walla Walla, Washington field office. The role installs, troubleshoots, and repairs end-user computing equipment, supports deployments, and provides responsive customer service to field office staff. Occasional travel to other sites is required.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of technical support experience.
• Strong written, verbal, and listening communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical end users.
• Working knowledge of personal computers, peripherals, and assigned hardware and software products.
• U.S. citizenship required.

Nice To Haves

• Associate's degree or technical/trade school training, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Prior field or on-site support experience across multiple office locations.
• Customer-service orientation and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Security+ certification.
• Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Install and perform moderately complex repairs on personal computer hardware and software, using general guidance and tailoring solutions based on knowledge, experience, and research.
• Provide support to end users on moderately complex technical issues, responding to requests by phone, email, and in person.
• Use diagnostic techniques to identify problems, investigate causes, and recommend or implement solutions with minimal direct supervision.
• Set up equipment for employee use, including installing cables, operating systems, and appropriate software.
• Refer major hardware or software problems and defective products to vendors, technicians, or the next support tier.
• Collaborate with team members to resolve IT issues and implement process improvements.
• Assist in developing training materials and procedures, or train users in the proper use of hardware and software.
• Travel approximately 10% to support offsite field office locations as needed.
