Field Mining Engineer

AECOM•Murray, UT

About The Position

AECOM is seeking a motivated, technically strong Field Mining Engineer to provide onsite engineering support for mining operations and projects across North America and other regions. The role focuses on safe, efficient, and cost-effective mineral extraction and serves as a liaison between engineering plans and field execution. The engineer works with mine operations, geology, survey, maintenance, and planning teams to optimize production, support short-term mine planning, monitor performance, and identify continuous improvement opportunities. This is primarily a field-based position at active mines and client sites. It involves frequent travel—up to 50%—including domestic and international travel, and extended site assignments ranging from several days to multiple weeks. Assignments may involve extended shifts, rotational schedules, remote locations, and weekend or holiday travel when project demands require. The role includes regular exposure to mining equipment, blasting activities, and variable weather conditions. The position requires a bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related engineering discipline and at least four years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. AECOM states that it will not provide sponsorship or relocation for this role. The posting is for a current vacancy, with the intention to fill the position by January 25, 2027. Newly hired employees must attend in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location.
