About The Position

Pape’ Machinery, Inc.’s Agriculture & Turf Division is seeking a Field Mechanic in Chico, California. The position involves servicing agricultural equipment at customer locations and completing repairs accurately and promptly to maximize equipment uptime. The mechanic travels to service locations in a company service vehicle, performs equipment repairs, and interacts with customers.

Daily work includes diagnosing equipment malfunctions or failures and repairing, replacing, or rebuilding engines, transmissions, carburetors, final drives, steering, clutches, cross shafts, hydraulic components, electrical systems, and air systems. Welding and fabrication may also be required. The company provides training and mentoring, ongoing learning opportunities, and support for career growth. Candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment, preferably agricultural equipment.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Self-motivation and ability to work with little or no supervision.
• Excellent communication and customer relations skills.
• A driver’s license and a good driving record.
• Must provide own tools.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test.

Nice To Haves

• CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and diagnose agricultural equipment malfunctions or failures in the field.
• Repair, replace, or rebuild engines, transmissions, carburetors, final drives, steering, clutches, cross shafts, hydraulic components, electrical systems, air systems, and related components.
• Perform welding and fabrication work when needed.
• Travel to customer locations in a service vehicle to maintain and repair equipment.
• Interact with customers and help maximize equipment uptime.
