About The Position

The Field Maintenance Trainee - Heavy Equipment position involves assisting in performing preventive maintenance on heavy equipment, including changing fluids, filters, pulling SOS Samples, lubricating/cleaning components, and starting equipment to test performance, under the guidance of a mentor. The trainee will maintain a set of tools to diagnose, disassemble, and assemble machine components, attend required training classes, and learn to provide necessary documentation for repairs. The role also includes learning to work in a neat and orderly fashion, adhering to contamination control guidelines, and performing daily vehicle inspections. The trainee will maintain company service literature, stay updated on technical changes, and be flexible with their schedule to work nights and weekends as required. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 12-18 months of experience in related field or preventative maintenance experience.
  • Able to easily and effectively comprehend written material and communicate orally and in writing with employees and customers.
  • A valid driver’s license accompanied by a clear motor vehicle record (MVR)
  • Prior experience working autonomously/independently in a related technical role.

  • Proficient in the use of a computer, Microsoft Office products and relevant Dealer software programs.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts all assigned work in a safe manner, adhering to all applicable safety, environmental and contamination control policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Wears and enforces wearing proper personal protective equipment.
  • Approaches work in a positive manner and maintain conduct that is supportive of safe work practices.
  • Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing tasks on time while maintaining safety and quality expectations.
  • Assists in performing preventive maintenance to include, but not limited to changing fluids, filters, pulling SOS Samples, lubricating/cleaning components/parts, and starting equipment to test performance, with support from a designated mentor.
  • Maintains a minimum set of tools as defined by the Training and Development Team to diagnose, disassemble, and assemble machine components to manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Attends and successfully completes required tasks and technician training classes in the Field Maintenance Trainee program.
  • Actively learns how to supply all required information, supporting documentation, and photos appropriate leadership for repairs and additional services identified during scheduled preventive maintenance visits.
  • Actively learns how to work in a neat and orderly fashion, adhering to contamination control guidelines and constantly looking for ways of improving the methods of work, work area, and safety standards.
  • Actively learns how to perform daily vehicle inspections in adherence to all appropriate guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains personal company service literature, maintains a high awareness of technical changes in the industry.
  • Understands the flexibility of schedule to regularly work nights and weekends as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
