About The Position

The Maintenance Machinist / Millwright works with all levels of the Maintenance Organization to repair and perform preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment, ensuring the safe and profitable operation of the Chesterfield Plant.

Requirements

  • Millwright journeyman card or minimum 4 years of maintenance experience as a millwright/mechanic in a chemical plant, refinery, or similar industrial facility
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of mechanical system design, selection, repair techniques and performance assessment
  • Well-rounded field experience applying good engineering practices to repair work for a variety of typical process plant rotating and fixed equipment
  • Willing and able to be trained and learn new technologies as the skills of a Millwright advance with new technologies and applications
  • Knowledge of tools and methods necessary to troubleshoot and maintain mechanical equipment
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and ability to comply with OSHA procedures
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and repair manuals
  • Ability to perform basic math computations
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented individual with proven success working independently and in a multi-functional team environment

Responsibilities

  • Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing: Pumps, compressors, blowers, fans, and gearboxes, Shafts, bearings, seals, packing, Couplings, clutches, and brakes, Belt and chain drives, including sheaves and sprockets, Conveying systems, Pelletizers and rotary driers, Lubrication and hydraulic systems, Pneumatic and vacuum systems
  • Performing equipment balancing and laser alignments
  • Performing and documenting predictive and preventive maintenance work
  • Cutting, grinding, soldering, brazing, and welding equipment and supports
  • Rigging and lifting equipment as needed
  • Using precision measuring and layout tools
  • Using shop machining tools and equipment
  • Supporting job plan and shop paper development, parts identification and ordering
  • Interfacing with equipment manufacturers, specialists, and technical support consultants
  • Updating maintenance documentation for critical plant equipment
  • Providing daily support to all plant operations in order to continue 24/7 operations
  • Performing scheduled and non-scheduled work orders
  • Looking up, reading, and understanding manuals, schematics, and P&ID’s
  • Willing to work overtime when required
  • Able to perform physical tasks in an industrial plant environment including, but not limited to climbing ladders and performing confined space entries
  • Willing and able to be trained and learn new technologies as the skills of an Electrician advance with new technologies and applications
