Field Interviewers on the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) are responsible for traveling frequently to selected locations to recruit study participants. They make in-person contact with selected respondents to discuss the study, answer questions, and obtain participation. The role involves performing the proper administration of a computer-assisted interview, collecting confidential information, and administering standardized questionnaires. Interviewers will independently manage administrative duties, including participating in conference calls and completing online trainings, and transmitting data as scheduled. They assume full and legal responsibility for the use and care of project-issued equipment and safeguard participant incentives, issued equipment, or project materials against damage, loss, or theft. The position also requires submitting timely and accurate Time & Expense reports, virtually attending scheduled meetings with other members of the project team, approaching selected households without prior appointment, and working and driving after dark. Field Interviewers will attend weekly scheduled calls with their Field Supervisor, adhere to a schedule set by the Field Supervisor for respondent contact times, and provide availability for field observations conducted by client or RTI staff. Maintaining required system updates to project equipment and completing administrative tasks are also part of the role. Travel overnight, as needed, to the upper peninsula area of Michigan is also a responsibility.
