Field Installation Technician

About The Position

This is a Skillbridge to full-time employment opportunity nationwide. The role requires the technician to travel approximately 75% of the time, with most weekends spent at home. The technician will travel to manufacturing plants across the country to install and service safety systems on press brakes and other metalworking machines. This involves hands-on trade work, including electrical tasks such as wiring safety controllers, multimeter diagnostics, and reading schematics, as well as mechanical tasks like drilling, tapping, and mounting brackets. Trips typically last 3-4 weeks, followed by a full week off. Between trips, technicians will build interface kits and prepare for upcoming jobs.

Requirements

  • Comfortable with tools such as drills and taps, and working with metal.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams.
  • Proficiency with a multimeter.
  • Dependability when working independently after ramp-up period.
  • Veterans and individuals with military technical backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • No degree is needed; aptitude and work ethic are valued.

Responsibilities

  • Install Lazer Safe camera-based safety systems, including brackets, wiring, controller setup, calibration, and testing.
  • Install machine guarding, such as rear guards, perimeter fencing, scissor gates, and interlocks.
  • Train operators after each installation.
  • Handle service and recertification visits.
  • Troubleshoot on-site with senior technicians available for support.
