About The Position

Assists the Field Hockey Directors with program instruction, organization, field set-up, clean-up, and other duties as assigned. This is a seasonal role for the Fall, lasting 8 weeks, with approximately 3-8 hours of work per week. The position involves providing positive instruction, encouragement, and guidance to participants in a safe and supportive environment. Responsibilities include teaching and demonstrating fundamental field hockey skills, techniques, and game strategies, conducting drills and activities, and assisting with organizing and officiating games. The instructor will serve as a positive role model, help maintain a safe playing environment, and ensure equipment is properly managed. Effective communication with participants, staff, and parents is essential.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the game of field hockey.
  • Ability to work effectively with youth participants, parents, and fellow staff members.
  • Proven communication and leadership skills.
  • May be required to successfully pass a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Provide positive instruction, encouragement, and guidance to participants in a safe and supportive environment.
  • Teach and demonstrate fundamental field hockey skills, techniques, and game strategies appropriate to participants' age and skill level.
  • Conduct drills, skill-building activities, and organized scrimmages to promote player development and enjoyment of the sport.
  • Assist with organizing, supervising, and officiating games and activities.
  • Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating good sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and respect for others.
  • Help maintain a safe playing environment by monitoring participant behavior and reporting any concerns to the Directors.
  • Ensure that all equipment is properly set up before each session and collected, stored, and secured at the conclusion of each program day.
  • Communicate effectively with participants, staff, and parents as needed and support the overall goals of the program.
