About The Position

Dudek is seeking entry-level environmental professionals with limited consulting experience or university students to provide as-needed field assistant services. The position is based at project sites throughout California and is suited to people seeking hands-on experience in environmental consulting. Candidates should have experience in natural outdoor environments—professionally, academically, or recreationally—and an interest in learning to survey for or observe biological and aquatic resources. The role involves collaborating with Dudek staff to complete survey requirements, recording observations in Dudek’s electronic platform for reporting, and following safety protocols. Employees travel to project sites and work outdoors, including hiking long distances over rough terrain and in potentially inclement weather or heat. The position requires attention to detail, teamwork, and strong communication skills. Work takes place at outdoor project sites and may involve excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, moving vehicles, and equipment. Physical tasks include bending, squatting, climbing ladders, lifting up to 35 pounds unassisted or 50 pounds with a team, and walking or trekking long distances over uneven terrain in extreme weather. Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check and have U.S. work authorization.
