About The Position

Dudek is seeking qualified, experienced Archaeological Field Technicians for archaeological projects throughout California and, at times, other states. The work is on an on-call/as-needed basis, with immediate needs in Northern and Central California. Candidates may be connected with the Oakland, Sacramento, Auburn, or Santa Cruz offices; proximity to an office is not a determining factor. The role involves archaeological survey, excavation, and monitoring. During monitoring, technicians communicate on site with construction and Native American personnel and maintain daily logs describing construction activities, communications, and future plans. Survey work includes following crew-leader instructions, scientific photography, measurement, artifact identification, and resource recordation. Excavation work requires effective teamwork, identification of buried resources, and documentation. The position operates in outdoor project settings and may also involve office-based work. Project visits can include excessive noise, uneven surfaces, extreme weather, and moving vehicles and equipment. As-needed and part-time employees are eligible for a 401(k) plan, sick leave, and the Employee Assistance Program; additional medical benefits and ESOP participation may be available if minimum hours-worked requirements are met. Candidates must have U.S. work authorization and pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
