The agricultural industry requires reliable information on production, supplies, marketing, prices, weather and a vast array of other inputs. Up-to-date information is essential in planning and administration of federal and state programs. Become part of the team that collects this data across North Carolina. Work includes interviewing farmers in person or over the phone. Regular training is provided. Part time flexible schedule, include some evenings and weekends. Paid hourly, starting at $17.75 per hour, plus occasional mileage. Work in your local area. A great second income or for those semi-retired. Intermittent, part-time interviewer position available with the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (a Fair Opportunity Employer). Expect to work no more than 400-500 hours per year. During periods of data collection expect to sometimes work a full-time schedule. Applicants must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle. Knowledge of agriculture helpful. Computer skills required. Must be comfortable approaching strangers and striking up a conversation. People skills and attention to detail are a must. Starting wage is $17.75/hour including training time, plus the current IRS rate for miles driven. Applicants must consent to a background and motor vehicle record check. Applicants must have good communication skills and must be a good self-starter. Position open until filled.
