About The Position

The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) is seeking a detail-oriented, part-time Field Enumerator to support their organization. This role involves collecting agricultural data on behalf of the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). The position requires interviewing farmers, ranchers, and agricultural businesses in person or by phone, and occasionally traveling to fields for crop counts. The enumerator will maintain detailed records of interviews, crop counts, mileage, expenditures, and hours worked. The role is performed from a residence with an operable telephone and requires a reliable personal vehicle for travel. NASDA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to growing and enhancing American agriculture through policies, partnerships, and public engagement.

Requirements

Experience multitasking in an energetic, deadline-oriented work environment
Ability to make crop counts in designated fields
Ability to maintain a reliable personal vehicle
Ability to conduct interviews in person or by telephone with farm operators and other individuals
Knowledge about computers or iPads
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to demonstrate good time management in a fast-paced environment
Self-motivated
Ability to work as part of a team
Organized
Ability to maintain a positive and friendly attitude
Must pass a background check

Responsibilities

Interview farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural businesses either in person or on the phone.
Travel to designated fields to perform crop counts.
Maintain and deliver detailed and legible records of interviews, crop counts, mileage, expenditures, and hours worked.
Conduct enumerator work from a residence with an operable telephone free from any distractions.
Represent NASDA and the benefits of enumerators in all survey actions.
