About The Position

The Field Engineering Specialist is responsible for equipment installation, startup, commissioning, decommissioning services, repairs, and training for Chandler Engineering customers. This position also provides our customers with technical support and aftermarket quotations. This position reports on new equipment opportunities, and key insight and customer needs from the field to continuously improve products and services.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a technical field or service engineering role.
  • Associate degree in Electronics or equivalent work experience with a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience working on High Pressure, High Temperature (HPHT) equipment.
  • Proficient in using test equipment such as digital voltmeters (DVM), oscilloscopes, soldering irons, and standard mechanical/electrical tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with analog, digital, and microprocessor-based electronics, as well as vacuum systems.
  • Critical thinking and the ability to diagnose technical problems in a logical and efficient manner.
  • General knowledge of network components and IP connectivity.
  • Proficiency in entire Microsoft Suite.
  • Ability to reprioritize and shift focus to meet changing business demands.
  • Works cross functionally across several mediums of communication, to meet or exceed customer deliverables.
  • Makes timely and sound decisions based on analysis of the information presented in the face of ambiguous or conflicting situations or when there is an associated risk.
  • Demonstrates honesty and openness when communicating with others.

Responsibilities

  • Provide complete technical support for Chandler Engineering products and peripheral devices, including installation, troubleshooting, repair, and instrument modification, both remotely and on-site.
  • Deliver responsive customer support across multiple channels (phone, email, virtual platforms, and in-person), ensuring timely resolution of technical and operational issues.
  • Coordinate logistics for service trips, including scheduling, travel arrangements, and customer requirements; complete and submit accurate service documentation and expense reports.
  • Quote instrument retrofits (with instructions), repair costs, and provide calibration/troubleshooting assistance to customers.
  • Conduct product training sessions to help customers understand and operate equipment effectively; lead seminars and assist with trade shows, as needed.
  • Communicate with Manufacturing and Engineering teams regarding product issues or improvements; initiate and follow through on Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
  • Use Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools for managing service appointments, work orders, asset tracking, and customer interactions.
  • Keep management informed of customer feedback, technical challenges, and competitive insights gained during service or training visits.
  • Ensure all work complies with approved manuals, company policies, and safety guidelines.
  • Travel 75–90% of the time, both domestically and internationally; weekend stayovers may be required.
