About The Position

Kleinfelder's Construction Services team is looking for an Entry Level Field Engineer to join the Austin, Texas office. This role involves performing routine to complex inspection and testing of construction materials in the field to verify conformance to construction plans and specifications. The field engineer will prepare daily reports and data sheets and may be called upon to perform various tasks at the discretion of the supervisor. Duties include concrete sampling and testing, nuclear moisture density testing, reinforcing steel observations, and more complex observation and inspection duties. Success in this role requires working well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and possessing strong communication skills.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Geology
EIT or GIT or ability to obtain within 6 months.
0 to 3 years' experience in the provision of geotechnical-related engineering field
Must have valid TX Driver's License
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., work outdoors in varying weather conditions, traverse uneven terrain, and stand for extended periods.
ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire)
Radiation Safety (nuclear density gauge: Troxler, CPN, Instrotek) (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire)
Texas Department of Transportation Testing Certifications (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire)

Responsibilities

Perform observations and testing on materials testing projects to verify conformance to the construction plans and specifications.
Submit daily field reports and data reports summarizing daily activities.
Conduct engineering calculations under the supervision of a professional engineer.
Maintain objectives, initiatives, and overall goals set forth by the project manager.
