Serve as a technical expert supporting the Navy's strategic missile test program. Provide specialized expertise to Naval Ordnance Test Unit (NOTU) personnel on radio frequency (RF) telemetry and flight termination systems, supporting shore-based refurbishment operations and mission-critical flight test events. Work as part of a six-person team responsible for modifying, repairing, refurbishing, testing, and providing technical support for complex electronic systems used in missile flight test operations at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and aboard submarine platforms. The position supports the Test Instrumentation group in meeting operational targets for electronics systems assembly, integration, testing, and technical support for Navy customers. The Field Engineer serves as the on-site L3Harris technical representative during operational Navy testing events, providing independent technical assessments and troubleshooting guidance to NOTU personnel during critical, time-sensitive missile flight tests. The role also supports refurbishment, testing, and quality assurance for M350 and M264 RF telemetry systems. When not traveling, the role supports tasking at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, including NOTU refurbishment operations, quality assurance inspections to IPC and Navy documentation standards, system testing and grooming, inventory management, electronic logbooks, documentation review and updates, industry partner testing, and on-the-job training. The position requires occasional travel to support operational missile flight test events in the United States and United Kingdom, and infrequent embarkation on US and UK submarines. The schedule is four 10-hour days per week, with Fridays off.
