Field Engineer - Vancouver Island
About The Position
EBC is a leader in major infrastructure projects including bridges, roads, highways, tunnels, and marine installations. We have a proven track record of meeting deadlines and budgets on large-scale projects such as the Samuel-De-Champlain Bridge, the Réseau Express Métropolitain (REM), and the Site C hydro-electric power station. Our team of experienced engineers, project managers, and specialists also contribute to wind farms and hydroelectric projects. This specific position is for our Ladore Project located in Campbell River, British Columbia. Candidates must be willing to report to the construction site. The Field Engineer will report directly to the Project Manager and will be responsible for ensuring that construction plans adhere to contract guidelines and specifications.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or Civil Engineering Technology
- Related job experience of 1-3 years in construction field engineering on Infrastructure projects
- Advanced skills in written and oral English language
- Willingness to travel extensively
- Ability to climb, work at various heights and work outdoors in all weather
- Advanced skills in communication and problem solving
- Initiative and leadership
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office, MS Project, and Bluebeam
Responsibilities
- Read technical and administrative project specifications
- Inspect work daily to ensure that it meets the specified standards
- Inform the Project Manager of project development and discuss planned methods with them and the Superintendent
- Order critical materials with suppliers in collaboration with the Job Superintendent
- Perform quantity tracking and cost coding for productivity analysis and accurate job cost forecasting
- Prepare daily reports related to the crew, progress, and issues
- Provide document control for correspondence, submittents, RFI’s, NCR, etc.
- Assist in the preparation of final records for the project, including as-builts
- Organize and participate in various meetings
- Establish and maintain necessary communications between suppliers, sub-contractors, professionals, and the client
- Assist in carrying out a variety of field duties at the job site related to the project
