About The Position

North Edge Technology is seeking Field Engineers to join their Emergency Management Sustainment team, providing support to over 100 military installations globally. The Field Engineers will be responsible for ensuring the full operational status of Giant Voice systems, which are crucial for emergency communication. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of Giant Voice (GV) systems (including brands like Federal Signal, Whelen, American Signal, ATI, Cooper Wheelock) or Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems (such as Motorola, Kenwood, Harris).

Requirements

  • DoD Secret Clearance is required (or ability to obtain and maintain one).
  • High School or GED equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of / willingness to learn Emergency Management systems: Giant Voice Exp or LMR Exp or Apprentice Electrician.
  • Familiarity with technical test equipment used to install/repair GV, LMR, and AVNS.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and conflict resolution skills.
  • Must be able to lift 70lbs.
  • Must be able to travel 75% of the time to perform the job.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating heavy-duty equipment like boom and scissor lifts, cranes, excavators used to install / repair GV, LMR, and AVNS.

Responsibilities

  • Use engineering knowledge and methods to design, install, support, and repair technological tools and equipment in field locations, remote offices, or client sites.
  • Analyze user needs, build, modify, install, and test products.
  • Troubleshoot errors or malfunctions and perform unscheduled or routine maintenance.
  • Create, distribute, and maintain service or training manuals, and provide on-site training.
  • Support the overall sustainment and repair operations of the Army’s Giant Voice and Audio-Visual Notification Systems (AVNS), including managing, operating, and maintaining associated hardware, software, and processes.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the area of responsibility.
  • Work closely with the Lead.
  • Document repair information for hardware and software, in conjunction with geospatial data.
  • Operate boom and scissor lifts, forklifts, and bucket trucks to perform repairs at heights of 20-80 feet.
  • Perform and conduct research on potential resolutions for assigned technical issues with teammates and OEM representatives.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Security, Site, and Systems Administration teams to incorporate customer feedback and address key support and usability concerns.
  • Communicate and interact effectively with internal and external partners, including third-party support teams and Government customers.
  • Demonstrate compliance with applicable laws and regulations, particularly those related to safety and communications.
