Field Engineer Intern
About The Position
FlatironDragados’ Intern Program offers challenging and rewarding work opportunities for college students majoring in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Construction Management. Interns apply their academic training and skills in a real-world setting at project locations, assisting the project manager, project engineer, and on-site construction staff with engineering technology principles, methods, and techniques at a project job site. Field Engineer Interns are expected to develop a working knowledge of the entire project, including plan interpretation, project specifications, project cost codes, and the overall construction schedule. They support corporate policies, set a productive and consistent work example, and follow up on assigned tasks.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate Engineering, Construction Management, or similar program at an accredited technical college or university.
- Working knowledge of project plans, specifications, cost codes, and the overall construction schedule.
Responsibilities
- Assist with evaluation of field conditions and acceptance testing.
- Support quality assurance and quality control engineering materials testing.
- Apply survey knowledge to assist with project layout and check that work conforms to plans and specifications.
- Review project drawings and coordinate design changes.
- Provide document control assistance for correspondence, submittals, design releases, and related materials.
- Initiate engineering design clarifications.
- Track quantities and analyze productivity to maximize operational efficiency.
- Assist with preparing and updating the project schedule and interact with participants in scheduling decisions.
- Respond to field requests for design clarification, manage subcontractor field operations, and verify contract payments.
- Assist the project engineer with the design of temporary structures using computer-aided design tools.
