About The Position

Join PCL Construction Services, Inc. as a Field Engineer Intern for our California Buildings district, within our US Buildings sector for 4 or 8 months starting summer 2027. This internship offers the chance to grow your career with competitive weekly pay, hands-on experience on real projects, and development of in-demand skills through mentorship and PCL’s College of Construction. You will also have opportunities to build connections through inclusive student and networking events, and follow clear career pathways to full-time roles, as evidenced by over 150 students hired last year. Depending on your assigned project, you will contribute to our team by assisting with various field engineering tasks.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a degree relevant to the construction industry such as Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, etc.
  • A desire to pursue a career as a Project Manager, Superintendent, or Estimator
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • 18 years of age or older and possess a valid Driver’s License
  • Willing to work and live in the Southern California area
  • Willing to temporarily relocate to project locations
  • Must be able to navigate through a construction site on a daily basis, climb ladders and stairs
  • Must be able to work around and near heavy equipment, cranes, and other construction equipment
  • Employment with PCL is contingent upon passing a substance abuse test conducted by a third party

Responsibilities

  • Assists Field/Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Superintendents
  • Conducts safety audits and quality audits
  • Reads and understand drawings and specifications
  • Logs submittments, process RFI’s and prepare reports
  • Assists with surveying and project layout
  • Maintains and update field drawings, field equipment and records
  • Assists with coordinating subcontractors, vendors and field staff
  • Coordinates material deliveries and documentation
  • Attends relevant project meetings
  • Prepares memos, letters, meeting minutes, contracts, and other forms and documents
  • Assists with project documentation requirements
  • Assists with estimating and soliciting subcontractors and/or suppliers for information and pricing
  • Other duties as assigned
