About The Position

FlatironDragados’ Intern Program offers challenging and rewarding work opportunities for college students majoring in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Construction Management. Interns apply their academic training and skills in real-world settings at project locations and assist the project manager, project engineer, and on-site construction staff with engineering technology work at a project job site. Field Engineer Interns are expected to develop a working knowledge of the entire project, including plan interpretation, project specifications, cost codes, and the construction schedule. They support company policies, set a productive and consistent work example, and follow up on assigned tasks.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in an Engineering, Construction Management, or similar undergraduate program at an accredited technical college or university.
Working knowledge of the project, including plan interpretation, project specifications, project cost codes, and the overall construction schedule.

Responsibilities

Assist with evaluation of field conditions and acceptance testing.
Support quality assurance and quality control engineering materials testing.
Apply survey knowledge to assist with project layout and check work for conformance with plans and specifications.
Review project drawings and coordinate design changes.
Provide document control assistance for correspondence, submittals, and design releases.
Initiate engineering design clarifications.
Perform quantity tracking and productivity analysis to maximize operational efficiency.
Assist with preparing and updating the project schedule and participate in scheduling decision processes.
Respond to field requests for design clarification, manage subcontractors’ field operations, and verify contract payments.
Assist the project engineer with designing temporary structures using computer-aided design tools.
