About The Position

The candidate will act as the Civil Field Engineer on the upcoming project. The candidate may start in the home office in Reston, Houston or Cheyenne, Wyoming, as single status, to support preconstruction planning, ahead of project mobilization to the field when the candidate will locate on a long-term assignment to Cheyenne, Wyoming. This position is contingent upon project award. Job Summary:The Civil Field Engineer is responsible for providing technical assistance, direction, and support to Bechtel and subcontractor field supervision for construction and installation activities for all disciplines associated with specified area equipment and materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or other relevant technical discipline from an accredited university as well as a minimum of 5-8 years of relevant work experience, or 9-12 years relevant experience in the absence of a degree
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
  • Priror experience in placement of structural concrete and knowledge of the associated codes (i.e ACI)
  • Prior experience in working on projects under the jurisdiction of North American Building Trades (union) direct hire craft is desirable.
  • Experienced implementing and utilizing Bechtel Standard Work Process Procedures.
  • Experienced with Bechtel BSAP systems.
  • Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
  • Excellent problem-solving ability
  • Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
  • Facilitates planning construction methods and procedures.
  • Initiates requisitions for field purchases
  • Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
  • Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
  • Proactively considers continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities
  • Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
  • Reviews and approves inspection test plans,
  • Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals
