Field Director – Texas

Solidarity Strategies
$10,000 - $10,000Onsite

About The Position

We are hiring a Field Director to lead a voter registration canvassing program in Texas. The Field Director runs day-to-day field operations — recruiting, training, and managing canvassers, assigning turf, running quality control, and making sure every voter registration application is handled according to Texas requirements. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is organized, reliable, and comfortable directing a team in neighborhoods, community spaces, and other approved outreach locations. We are hiring generally across Texas and collecting resumes to staff current and future locations as the program grows. Field Directors receive program training and complete the county Volunteer Deputy Registrar appointment process before leading field work.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must have a working smartphone with access to apps.
  • Must be available full-time, including evenings and weekends, with the ability to work long days when needed.
  • Must complete required program training before leading field work.
  • Must be able to meet Texas Volunteer Deputy Registrar eligibility requirements, including:
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Be a United States citizen.
  • Be a resident of the State of Texas.
  • Not have been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be totally mentally incapacitated, or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.
  • Never have been convicted of failing to deliver a voter registration application to a voter registrar.
  • Not have been finally convicted of a felony, or, if convicted, must have fully discharged the sentence — including any term of incarceration, parole, or supervision, or completed a period of probation ordered by any court — or been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disability to vote.
  • Not have been finally convicted of identity theft under Section 32.51 of the Texas Penal Code.
  • Must follow all Texas voter registration, form-handling, and submission requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Prior experience managing canvassers or field teams (campaign, voter registration, nonprofit, or community organizing) strongly preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable directing people and holding a team accountable to daily goals.
  • Detail-oriented and reliable with data entry and reporting.
  • Comfortable using apps and simple software for scheduling, timekeeping, and tracking.
  • Able to work outdoors, walk or stand for extended periods, and keep a demanding full-time schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of canvassers in an assigned Texas market.
  • Lead Day 1 onboarding and program training for new canvassers, including role-play and field observation.
  • Verify that employment paperwork, I-9 documents, and VDR certificates are complete and correct before canvassers begin field work.
  • Assign daily turf and locations, set form-collection goals, and communicate expected timing.
  • Run real-time quality control: monitor canvasser check-in times and locations, track form rates, and move canvassers to better locations as needed.
  • Conduct check-in and check-out with each canvasser; reconcile completed versus incomplete forms and confirm end-of-day reports.
  • Maintain a standardized internal tracker and daily reporting: walk-in times, forms issued and collected, ramp figures, hotspots, and voter-registration tracking.
  • Identify new outreach hotspots and secure permission to canvass at approved locations.
  • Communicate daily with program leadership on progress, staffing, and field issues.
  • Ensure all canvassing follows Texas voter registration, form-handling, and submission laws, rules, and deadlines.
  • Represent the program professionally and respectfully in the community.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary ($10,000/month).
  • Leadership role on a growing, mission-driven team.
  • Opportunity to build and run a field operation in a key state.
  • Housing may be available depending on the assignment location.
  • Paid training and a supportive team.
