About The Position

Mistral is hiring a Field CTO for the US to serve as a senior external technical voice, engaging enterprise boards, CIOs, and CTOs as a credible peer. The role shapes how strategic accounts approach AI strategy, represents Mistral at major industry events, and publishes thought leadership on the direction of AI. It works closely with regional sales leadership and brings insights from executive conversations into Mistral’s product direction. This is an externally facing, influence-driven role measured by relationships built, content published, and executive conversations advanced.

The Field CTO runs Mistral’s Executive Briefing Center with the regional VP, building trusted-advisor relationships with senior technology and business leaders across the territory. The role publishes articles, whitepapers, and analysis; briefs Gartner and Forrester on Mistral’s roadmap and market position; tracks frontier research; and represents Mistral through conference keynotes, panels, and roundtables. It also shares patterns in customer governance requirements and deployment constraints with product teams.

Requirements

• Demonstrable credibility in the AI field.
• A public track record in AI through published papers, articles, or talks that reflect a clear, defensible position and are credible alongside Mistral’s technical brand.
• A stated position on open-weight models and their impact on enterprise adoption, aligned with Mistral’s public positions.
• Fluency in European data sovereignty and on-premise deployment, sufficient to address challenging questions from CTOs and VPs of Engineering.
• Comfort engaging C-level stakeholders across multiple verticals on technical architecture and business strategy in the same conversation.
• Cross-vertical fluency to engage credibly across financial services, manufacturing, defense, and energy without being a domain specialist in any one of them.
• 10–25 years of experience in enterprise technology.
• Experience in a role such as Field CTO, Principal Architect, or VP Engineering at a major cloud or AI company, or as a founder who developed technical credibility and executive relationships.
• Comfortable with 30–50% travel, depending on the region.

Nice To Haves

• An existing network of CTO and CIO relationships at enterprise accounts in the region.
• Prior Field CTO or equivalent externally facing technical experience at a major cloud or AI company.
• Fluency in multiple languages spoken across the region.

Responsibilities

• Run Mistral’s Executive Briefing Center with the regional VP for C-level stakeholders at strategic accounts.
• Build and sustain trusted-advisor relationships with CIOs, CTOs, CDOs, and VPs of Engineering across the territory.
• Publish articles, whitepapers, and analysis on the direction of enterprise AI.
• Brief Gartner and Forrester on Mistral’s roadmap and market position.
• Track frontier research and incorporate it into customer conversations.
• Represent Mistral at major industry events through keynotes, panels, and roundtables.
• Build a public presence that generates inbound interest from enterprise executives and the AI community.
• Bring insights from executive conversations, including patterns in governance requirements and deployment constraints, into Mistral’s product direction.
