This role is based in Fort McMurray and supports a major turnaround project with rotational work schedules. Requirements

  • years of industrial construction experience within oil & gas or heavy industrial environments
  • Strong background in turnaround/shutdown execution
  • Demonstrated experience with civil construction including concrete and earthworks (dirt work)
  • Ironworker or structural steel experience with exposure to rigging activities
  • Solid understanding of rigging practices including lift planning fundamentals
  • Experience coordinating crews in fast-paced industrial or turnaround environments
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and work packages
  • Effective communication and coordination skills with the ability to work across multiple teams
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
  • Commitment to safety excellence and supporting HSE programs in the field

Responsibilities

  • Support field execution during turnaround activities, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary crews including civil, concrete, earthworks, and structural/ironwork scopes
  • Coordinate rigging activities and ensure all lifts are planned and executed in accordance with safety requirements
  • Assist with daily planning activities including crew coordination, workface planning, and interface with other trades
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Planners, and site leadership to ensure alignment on schedule, priorities, and constraints
  • Track progress in the field and flag issues impacting productivity or schedule
  • Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements and participate actively in safety initiatives
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and field observations
  • Support quality control processes, ensuring all work meets specifications, drawings, and client expectations
  • Coordinate equipment, material, and manpower requirements to meet critical turnaround timelines
  • Identify and help resolve field issues, minimizing impacts to schedule and cost
  • Support turnaround planning activities including scope reviews and constructability input
  • Maintain clear communication with field teams and stakeholders across both day and night shifts
  • Assist with reporting, progress tracking, and documentation as required
