Field Communications Technician
About The Position
WECTEC Staffing Services, a subsidiary of Westinghouse Electric Company LLC, is seeking a Field Operations Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mobile radio systems and field communications infrastructure across a diverse fleet of vehicles and facilities throughout Colorado. This is a hands-on field role that combines vehicle radio installations with a variety of infrastructure support activities, including power systems, UPS installations, grounding and bonding, equipment upgrades, and general field operations support. The role requires travel throughout Colorado, with a company vehicle, computer, and installation tools provided.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Experience working with vehicle electrical systems (12V/24V).
- Experience installing, troubleshooting, or repairing mobile electronics, communications equipment, or vehicle accessories.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Experience using hand tools, test equipment, voltmeters, and related tools.
- Ability to travel throughout Colorado.
Responsibilities
- Install and troubleshoot mobile radios in fleet vehicles and facilities.
- Perform wiring, cable routing, equipment mounting, and system testing.
- Support DC power system installation and maintenance.
- Install and maintain UPS systems and related equipment.
- Perform grounding and bonding for communications and electrical systems.
- Support radio system upgrades and communications infrastructure projects.
- Troubleshoot power, radio, and equipment-related service tickets.
- Operate electrical testing equipment and hand tools safely.
- Help with generator maintenance and field equipment support.
- Create Bills of Material (BOMs) and support project planning.
- Maintain inventory of equipment and materials.
- Document existing equipment, field conditions, and completed work.
- Maintain site records and equipment lifecycle information.
- Support cable management, rack upgrades, and site refresh projects.
- Travel throughout Colorado to perform field installations and service work.
