About The Position

The Field Clinical Engineer (FCE) is a critical member of the Clinical team, serving as a key technical and clinical expert supporting the use of Vivistim in both commercial and clinical settings. In this role, you will work directly with physicians, hospital staff, and internal teams to ensure successful device implants, patient follow-up, and ongoing therapy optimization. You’ll operate at the intersection of engineering, clinical care, and customer engagement—providing hands-on support in the operating room, delivering training, and translating real-world feedback into continuous product and therapy improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (biomedical, electrical, software, or mechanical preferred)
  • 2+ years of experience in active implantable medical devices
  • At least 1 year of operating room (OR) experience
  • Ability to work in surgical environments and meet credentialing requirements for hospital access
  • Working knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and medical device regulations
  • Strong technical aptitude with ability to troubleshoot and support complex systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
  • Must reside in the Central United States

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in active implantable medical devices
  • neurostimulation experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and technical support in the field
  • Support Vivistim device implants and follow-up visits in both clinical studies and commercial cases
  • Perform device interrogations, programming, and troubleshooting in hospital and clinic settings
  • Provide on-call support for surgeries, reprogramming, and patient follow-ups as needed
  • Train and educate customers and internal teams
  • Deliver training to physicians, hospital staff, and internal teams on device use, programming, and clinical workflows
  • Conduct one-on-one sessions, in-services, and educational seminars (in-person and virtual)
  • Support “train-the-trainer” initiatives to enable clinical sites to independently support therapy
  • Support operations and ensure compliance
  • Complete implant documentation, product tracking, and customer service coordination (e.g., orders, replacements)
  • Manage complaint reporting and return material authorizations in compliance with FDA requirements
  • Maintain accurate reporting of clinical activity and site performance
  • Drive customer engagement and support growth
  • Build strong relationships with clinicians, hospitals, and clinical study sites
  • Advise healthcare providers on integrating Vivistim into their clinical practice
  • Support patient identification and selection efforts with customers
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to support growth and strategic initiatives
  • Contribute to continuous improvement
  • Gather and communicate customer feedback to engineering and clinical teams
  • Partner with R&D and Clinical teams to support product improvements and future development
  • Assist with clinical studies and research-related activities as needed
