About The Position

Savin Lake Services, a Jones Lake Management partner based in Hale, MI, is seeking a Field Biologist / Field Operator to join our team. This is a full-time, seasonal role offering hands-on field experience, consistent overtime during peak season, and a winter break period. This position operates in the field with regular travel and overnight stays. This role blends aquatic resource management with dredging and equipment operation. The ideal candidate is a motivated, hands-on team player who can manage lake and pond ecosystems while supporting dredging operations and field projects. Training and development opportunities are provided.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Biology, Conservation, Fisheries, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong work ethic, organization, and ability to work in a team environment
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Ability to tow and operate truck/trailer (non-CDL)
  • Willingness to travel and work extended hours in varying outdoor conditions
  • Ability to obtain Applicator’s License within 30 days (training provided)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with aquatic management, dredging, or heavy equipment operation preferred (not required)

Responsibilities

  • Manage aquatic resources through scheduled service visits and management plans
  • Perform aquatic applications, water quality enhancements, and vegetation control
  • Conduct water and sediment sampling, and identify aquatic plant species
  • Operate dredging and heavy equipment to remove sediment and debris from waterways
  • Monitor equipment, gauges, and material flow to ensure safe, efficient operations
  • Assist with installation, maintenance, and removal of aeration systems and fountains
  • Perform equipment setup, breakdown, relocation, and light maintenance
  • Maintain accurate logs, reports, and data entry related to field activities
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and customers
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations
  • Support troubleshooting and problem-solving for customer solutions and field challenges
