Detroit Community Schools is hiring a full time High School Biology Teacher. Must have Michigan teacher certification and endorsement in the subject. At DCS, we believe that Education is Power. Job Summary : We are seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Biology Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biology, an enthusiasm for teaching, and a commitment to student success. This Biology Teacher will create innovative lesson plans, facilitate hands-on laboratory experiences, and assess student progress effectively.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Education, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification/license in Michigan for secondary education with an endorsement in the subject.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and assessing educational activities.
- Strong knowledge of biological concepts and laboratory practices.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that meet the curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
- Conduct laboratory experiments, ensuring safety protocols are followed and that students understand scientific methodology.
- Develop assessments and monitor student performance through various methods, including tests, quizzes, projects, labs, and presentations.
- Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.
- Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution.
- Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students
- Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff
