This Biology Technician role involves preparing tissue and sectioning material for the manufacture of educational slides as assigned by the team supervisor. Responsibilities include affixing specimens to glass, staining specimens according to technical criteria for displaying critical structures for teaching, and permanently mounting specimens without introducing air. The role also requires investigating and determining how to solve production or quality problems, collaborating with expeditors and senior technicians to satisfy customer needs, and planning ways to meet production/quality goals. The technician will also interpret specimen structure and quality, determining the plane of section and suitability for teaching biology. Maintaining order and supplies in personal lab space, participating in the recycling program, and maintaining shared equipment are also part of the role.
