About The Position

Novaspect, Inc., an Emerson Impact Partner, the global leader of automation systems and solutions, is currently offering an opportunity for an Instrumentation & Control Technician to join our team. The Field Automation Specialist will participate with customers in automation process control instrumentation and equipment startup, verifying, troubleshooting, and resolving instrumentation and equipment communications. This role involves inspecting instrument wiring, power, and grounding, setting up instruments with Hart 475 or TREX field communicator, and reading P&IDs for process control configurations. The specialist will work with onsite installation crews, replace/install instrumentation, RTU, PLC, and equipment, and troubleshoot program logic, process control, and equipment. A key responsibility is developing solutions to resolve process control issues from device to SCADA, including installing and calibrating flow measurement equipment. The role also includes managing onsite control project installation and startup activities, providing phone support for process control, programming, and equipment, responding promptly to customer requests, documenting services, meeting project deadlines, and traveling to customer facilities.

Requirements

  • Technical degree in electrical or instrumentation discipline or equivalent experience in industrial automation and instrumentation required
  • Proficient of communication protocols Modbus, DNP3 for both TCP/IP and serial
  • Proficient with all types of I/O, Analog, Digital, Pulse, and Hart
  • Familiarity with programming and configuration on Beijer, Rosemont, Micro Motion, ROC, Floboss, Redlion and Allen Bradly PLC’s
  • Familiarity with ABB, Rosemont, Micro Motion, ROC, Floboss, Allen Bradly PLC
  • Familiar with I/O checkout, configuration and commissioning process
  • Training/Certification in 3 or more areas of automation
  • Experience managing customer projects and working independently
  • Current driver’s license
  • Proficient with MS Office suite
  • Participate in on-call rotation with existing technical staff

Responsibilities

  • Automation process control instrumentation and equipment startup
  • Verifying, troubleshooting and resolving instrumentation and equipment communications
  • Inspecting instrument wiring, power and grounding of installation using a process meter
  • Setting up instruments with Hart 475 or TREX field communicator
  • Able to read P&IDs for process control configurations
  • Work with onsite installation crew
  • Replacing/installing instrumentation, RTU, PLC and equipment
  • Troubleshooting program logic, process control and equipment
  • Developing a solution to resolve process control from device to SCADA
  • Installing and calibrating flow measurement equipment (Coriolis, mag meter, mass flow meters, and ultrasonic meters)
  • Providing management of onsite control project installation and startup activities including construction supervision and supplier coordination
  • Providing process control, programming and equipment phone support
  • Effective and prompt response to customer requests or inquiries
  • Able to demonstrate crucial communication skills with customers
  • Providing clear and effective documentation of services provided to customers
  • Meeting project team commitments and deadlines
  • Traveling to customer facilities
