About The Position

The Automation Field Service Engineer at Koops provides on-site support to repair, upgrade, and troubleshoot custom automation equipment at customer facilities. This role is critical to maintaining peak system performance and ensuring long-term customer satisfaction across a wide range of industries. Requirements

  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing automated equipment in production environments
  • Knowledge of controls systems including PLCs, HMIs, robots, and vision systems
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve issues across multiple disciplines (mechanical, electrical, controls, etc.)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused mindset
  • Team-oriented approach
  • High standard of integrity and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Willingness and ability to travel 35%
  • Four-year engineering or technical degree, or equivalent hands-on experience with custom automation equipment
  • Experience with controls programming (preferably Allen-Bradly PLCs/HMIs and/or robotic systems)
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and software systems

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade custom automation equipment at customer sites
  • Support system performance and reliability throughout the equipment lifecycle
  • Diagnose issues across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and controls systems
  • Perform hands-on work with PLCs, HMIs, robots, and vision systems
  • Coordinate solutions with internal teams and communicate directly with customers
  • Travel to customer sites across North America (approximately 50–75% travel)
  • Maintain strong documentation and communication on service activities
  • Deliver high-quality service with a focus on customer satisfaction
