About The Position

ICF is seeking On-Call (Temporary) Archaeologists based in the Eastern Sierras. The role involves assisting senior archaeologists primarily in fieldwork, including survey, testing, evaluation, data recovery, and construction monitoring. Other duties may include laboratory analysis, background research, report preparation assistance, and other assigned tasks. This position requires excellent field skills, the ability to identify pre-contact and historic-period artifacts, and detailed field note-taking. Travel for up to 10 days may be required, and work will be conducted outdoors in various weather conditions. On-Call employees are scheduled for work as hours become available, with the possibility of last-minute scheduling. They are free to accept or refuse assigned hours and may work concurrent projects outside of ICF as long as there is no conflict of interest.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field
1+ years of field experience in archaeological monitoring and survey
Must have valid driver's license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check
Ability to identify pre-contact and historic-period artifacts
Ability to take detailed field notes

Nice To Haves

Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with ICF senior staff and construction personnel
Knowledge and familiarity with computers and smart devices
Background in pre-contact or historic-period archaeology
Ability to conduct field visits at locations throughout Southern California
Active 40-hour HAZWOPER training
Experience working with and communicating with construction crews
