About The Position

ICF is seeking On-Call (Temporary) Archaeologists based in Oregon who can perform state-wide travel. The role involves assisting senior archaeologists primarily in fieldwork, including survey, testing, evaluation, data recovery, and construction monitoring. Other duties may include laboratory analysis, background research, report preparation assistance, and other assigned tasks. This position requires excellent field skills, the ability to identify precontract and historic-period artifacts, and taking detailed field notes. Travel for up to 10 days may be involved, and work will occur outdoors under all weather conditions. On-Call employees are scheduled for work hours as they become available, with the possibility of last-minute scheduling. They are free to accept or refuse assigned hours and may work concurrent projects outside of ICF as long as there is no conflict of interest.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field
• 2+ years of field experience in archaeological monitoring and survey
• Must have valid driver’s license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check
• Ability to identify precontract and historic-period artifacts
• Ability to take detailed field notes

Nice To Haves

• Field experience in Oregon
• Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with ICF senior staff and construction personnel
• Knowledge and familiarity with computers and smart devices
• Background in precontact or historic-period archaeology
• Ability to conduct field visits at locations throughout northern and central California
• Cross training in paleontological monitoring
• Mission-era experience or training
• Osteology experience or training
• Active 40-hour HAZWOPER training
