About The Position

This position is responsible for high-level technical and application training to Copan’s customers. The primary focus of this position is to assist on-site customer installations and implementations, contribute to the development of training programs, and develop technical communications and change management initiatives for WASP, WASPLab, WASP-FLO, Collaborative Robot, Colibri, Radian, UniVerse (collectively referred to as Copan Automation), and Copan Liquid-Based Microbiology (LBM) customers in the US. Specifically, this position will have direct responsibilities for all Field Application duties at Kaiser Permanente installations of Copan Automation, wherever they are in the USA. This position is in the San Francisco Bay Area to be near the Kaiser Berkeley location, as this is the largest WASPLab installation in the Kaiser system. This position will also be responsible for managing projects for new installations of Copan Automation in the USA and Canada, both in Kaiser and non-Kaiser medical facilities.

  • Prior field experience in technical clinical training.
  • Project leadership experience in a medical device or life sciences environment preferred.
  • Advanced presentation, training, and demonstration skills.
  • Strong understanding of clinical laboratory workflows and system implementation.
  • Ability to coordinate training schedules and support cross-training across multiple shifts.
  • Effective project coordination, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in standard computer applications and software systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments concurrently.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Availability to support evening or weekend work as business needs require.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive, high-level user training on Copan Automation systems to ensure customer competency, optimal utilization, and self-sufficiency.
  • Support on-site customer installations and implementations, which may require extended travel and on-site presence for up to 10 consecutive weeks, Monday through Friday.
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Copan instruments and software by assessing customer needs, implementing customized solutions, and supporting rapid adoption.
  • Collaborate with Field Service teams to enhance the overall customer experience and ensure successful system performance.
  • Ensures that the level of knowledge and trust in Copan Automation is optimal at different customer sites.
  • Lead and support the implementation process to ensure optimal utilization of Copan Automation platforms.
  • Conducts product demonstrations, while promoting product value to support the sales of COPAN automated platforms at tradeshows, workshops and customer sites as needed.
  • Assists regional sales associates during the implementation of Copan Automation.
  • Contributes to laboratory workflow productivity by maximizing the efficiency of the product training.
  • Routinely checks that the configuration of COPAN’s automation is optimal and that customers are running quality control (QC) procedures properly.
  • Collaborate with Sales teams to drive effective utilization of Copan Liquid Based Microbiology (LBM) products, including ESwab, UTM, Fecal Swab, broths, and related products.
  • Collaborate with the sales team and customer for ESwab, FecalSwab and other LBM validations and implementation
  • Plan, organize, and manage complex automation implementation projects with oversight from the Lab Application Manager.
  • Serve as a project lead within medical device or life sciences environments to ensure successful project execution.
  • Coordinate and indirectly guide cross-functional teams, including managers and analysts, to ensure projects are completed on time and in accordance with specifications.
  • Assign and delegate project tasks based on team members’ expertise, experience, and availability.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure completion within established timelines, scope, and quality standards.
  • Outlines the tasks involved in the project and delegates accordingly.
  • Conduct cost analyses and estimate project-related expenses.
  • Develop, implement, and manage project budgets based on approved estimates.
  • Identify and assess project risks; communicate risks to management and recommend mitigation strategies as appropriate (including termination of the project if appropriate).
  • Address project-related questions, concerns, and issues throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Act as a liaison between Copan, customers, and external vendors to support project coordination and communication.
  • Communicates and collaborates with sales and marketing teams to provide training and information required to promote and sell new projects, programs, and systems, if needed.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
