About The Position

The Field Application Specialist is responsible for providing in-field assistance to the Diagnostic Sales team for pre- and post- sale technical activities with a primary emphasis on growing the user base of diagnostic products. This role will provide technical direction and support to customers on instrument operation, assay implementation, and maintenance of company products. Conduct technical presentations and product demonstrations for customers. Work collaboratively with Sales, Marketing, Technical Support, Service and global business units to identify and assess customer needs in order to provide high quality customer care that exceed expectations. Additionally, the Field Applications Specialist will work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Create formal networks with key contacts outside of area of expertise, involving coordination among groups. Determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel. Act independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments. This position reports to the West Regional Service Manager and is part of the Customer Care Team located in Seattle, Washington and will be fully remote. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Install Cepheid instruments, train customers on CLIA waived and Moderate Complex systems and tests, support connectivity solutions into customer laboratories, and provide support to the customer during implementation to ensure customer satisfaction. Provide continued support of Cepheid CLIA waived and Moderate Complex instrumentation, software revisions, and reagent ADF changes to current customers. Jointly develop account strategies with Sales Representatives aimed at increasing Cepheid CLIA waived and Moderate Complex business and retaining current business. Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to support implementation activities in Health systems where both CLIA waived and Moderate Complex systems are involved. Independently manage assigned territory to include travel and scheduling aligned with business and organizational priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of related work experience OR Master’s degree in field with 3 + years of related work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Medical Technologist (MT)/Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) experience OR Minimum of 3 years’ formal training experience; OR any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background
  • Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: This position will require travel, up to 75%, by car and flying in and out of airports with possible long wait times
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in: FAS, MT, CLS, MLS, MLT training or teaching experience
  • Demonstrated success in following Corporate process and administrative requirements (e.g.: Salesforce.com, Monthly Reports, regulatory requirements, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs, especially PowerPoint, online tools, and systems: LMS, Content Management, and, Salesforce.com, Zoom and Microsoft Teams strongly preferred.
