About The Position

TEKsystems is looking for a Fiber Splicer for our client in the Eastern Shore! a dynamic cooperative based in Salisbury, MD. This client unites businesses, communities, and service providers to advance and strengthen broadband infrastructure across the state, aiming to bridge the digital divide, fuel local economies, and create opportunities through fast, reliable internet. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Fiber Splicer to assist with growing network expansion, maintenance, and clean up. We are hiring an experienced Fiber Splicer to support large-scale data center and backbone fiber network projects. This role focuses on existing backbone cleanup and network expansion across the Eastern Shore. This is a high-visibility opportunity supporting critical infrastructure with strong long-term growth potential.

Requirements

  • Proven fiber splicing experience (OSP and/or ISP)
  • Experience with single fiber + ribbon splicing
  • Strong troubleshooting and testing skills (OTDR)
  • Ability to meet strict loss and performance standards
  • Comfortable working in field environments and independently
  • Clean/valid drivers license for take home company splice rig van (gas card included)
  • Candidates should be open to travel to Eastern shore (Berlin-Harry Nice Bridge Corridor), office located in Salisbury, MD and provide service to most of the state.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting data center builds
  • Familiarity with high fiber count networks (432/864)
  • Exposure to Vetro mapping or GIS tools
  • Experience with aerial fiber (no bucket truck required/lashing; hand work)

Responsibilities

  • Perform OSP/ISP fiber splicing across aerial and underground networks
  • Complete single fiber and ribbon splicing
  • Work with: 24-strand up to high-count fiber (432 / 864 count)
  • Ribbon (rollable ribbon: 200–250 micron)
  • Conduct OTDR testing (EXFO) and ensure low-loss splices
  • Maintain splice quality standards: Target DB loss: 0.1–0.2
  • Handle field equipment: Tune/calibrate splice machines, Maintain splice van and tools
  • Connector work: SC/UPC, High-density LC panels for hub sites
  • Occasional “housekeeping”/office days for equipment upkeep
