About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Fiber Splicer to support large-scale data center and backbone fiber network projects. This role focuses on backbone cleanup, network expansion, and ongoing maintenance across regional infrastructure. It is a high-visibility opportunity supporting critical systems with strong long-term growth potential. This position plays a key role in expanding and maintaining reliable broadband connectivity, helping strengthen network infrastructure and improve access to high-speed internet.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in fiber splicing (OSP and/or ISP)
  • Experience with both single fiber and ribbon splicing
  • Strong troubleshooting and testing skills (OTDR)
  • Ability to meet strict loss and performance standards
  • Reliable, professional, and strong work ethic
  • Ability to work independently in field environments
  • 3+ years of high-density fiber splicing and ribbon splicing (including rollable ribbon)
  • Fiber testing and troubleshooting using OTDR (EXFO or equivalent)
  • Strong reliability, professionalism, and work ethic

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting data center or backbone network builds
  • Familiarity with high fiber count networks (432/864)
  • Experience with mapping or GIS tools
  • Experience with aerial fiber installation

Responsibilities

  • Perform OSP (outside plant) and ISP (inside plant) fiber splicing across aerial and underground networks
  • Complete both single fiber and ribbon splicing
  • Work with fiber counts ranging from 24-strand up to high-count (432/864 count)
  • Perform rollable ribbon splicing (200–250 micron)
  • Conduct mass fusion splicing using industry-standard equipment
  • Perform OTDR testing using EXFO or similar equipment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve fiber issues to restore performance
  • Ensure all splicing meets strict loss and performance standards
  • Tune and calibrate splicing equipment
  • Maintain and manage splice van and tools
  • Support aerial fiber work (hand work; no bucket truck operation required)
  • Install and maintain connectors, including: SC/UPC, High-density LC panels
  • Support hub site and backbone network connectivity
  • Assist with network cleanup and expansion projects
  • Participate in occasional office or “housekeeping” days for equipment maintenance
  • Travel within the region as needed to support project work
