About The Position

The Fiber Laser Operator runs and maintains the fiber laser machine and jib lift at our shop, cutting metal and aluminum parts to spec. You transport raw materials, finished products, and equipment throughout the plant, both manually and with powered equipment, and grind or cut excess material off finished pieces using hand tools. You'll know things are going well when parts come off the laser clean and accurate, materials move through the shop without hold-ups, and the work area stays safe and organized.

Requirements

• 2-5 years experience operating a fiber laser machine (Bodor experience is an asset, but knowledge of similar equipment is welcome) and a jib lift
• Comfortable working with both metric and imperial measurements
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for a full 10 hour shift
• Familiar with hand tools used to grind or cut excess metal and aluminum from finished products
• Safety-conscious by habit, you follow procedures closely and speak up when something looks unsafe
• Detail-oriented, you catch measurement errors and finishing issues before they become bigger problems
• Comfortable working independently once you know the machine and the job
• Able to keep pace in a fast-moving shop environment without cutting corners
• Physically capable of standing, lifting, and moving materials throughout a full shift

Nice To Haves

• Bodor experience is an asset
• Fork-lift certified is an asset, or willing to become certified

Responsibilities

• Operate the fiber laser machine to cut metal and aluminum parts according to specifications
• Operate and maintain the jib lift to move heavy materials and finished products safely
• Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on the fiber laser machine and jib lift
• Transport raw materials, finished products, and equipment throughout the plant manually or using powered equipment
• Grind or cut excess metal or aluminum from finished products using hand tools
• Read and interpret work orders and drawings using both metric and imperial measurements
• Inspect finished parts for accuracy and quality before moving them along the production line
• Follow all health and safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and safe equipment operation
• Keep the work area, machine, and surrounding floor space clean and organized
• Report equipment issues, safety hazards, or quality concerns to the shop supervisor promptly
