About The Position

The Fence Installer is responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional installation of residential, commercial, and industrial fencing systems. This position involves site preparation, material handling, fence construction, equipment operation, and ensuring all installations meet company quality standards, customer expectations, and applicable safety requirements. Fence Installers work as part of a team to complete projects on schedule while maintaining a strong commitment to workmanship, safety, and customer service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in fence installation, construction, landscaping, or related field preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record preferred.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math calculations.
  • Basic knowledge of construction tools, equipment, and installation techniques.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and installation equipment.
  • Ability to work on uneven terrain and in confined spaces when necessary.
  • Knowledge of fencing materials, installation methods, and construction practices.
  • Ability to use measuring devices and layout tools accurately.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Install a variety of fencing systems, including wood, vinyl, chain link, ornamental metal, aluminum, steel, and specialty fencing.
  • Read and interpret work orders, project specifications, blueprints, and property layouts.
  • Measure and mark fence lines, post locations, gates, and other installation points.
  • Dig post holes using hand tools, power augers, or other equipment.
  • Set fence posts in concrete and ensure proper alignment, spacing, and depth.
  • Assemble and install fence panels, rails, gates, hardware, and related components.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and light construction equipment safely and effectively.
  • Load, unload, transport, and organize materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Inspect materials and completed work to ensure compliance with company quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site throughout each project.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • Perform site cleanup and proper disposal of debris upon project completion.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of tools, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and jobsite safety procedures.
  • Report safety hazards, equipment issues, accidents, or project concerns promptly.
  • Assist with other construction, repair, or maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Follow all OSHA, company, and site-specific safety rules.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and toolbox talks.
  • Inspect tools and equipment before use.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses.
  • Maintain awareness of underground utilities, overhead hazards, and site conditions.
